During the summer of 1971, initial construction began on the ski trails.

As time passed, new lifts were added and the property grew to its current size of 2,433 acres. This area claims the status of Summit County Colorado's largest ski area. What was once just a little day trip ski area has grown to one of Colorado's premier year-round destination Summit County resorts. In 1997, the resort was purchased by a company known as Intrawest - a worldwide leader in vacation resort operations.
